An update on the practice parameters for administering the flu vaccine to egg allergic patients will be published in the latest issue of Annals of Allergy Asthma and Immunology coming out January 2018. Previously there was concern about trace amounts of egg protein that may be in certain influenza vaccines.

After extensive review of safety data, the Influenza Vaccine and Egg Allergy Practice Parameter Workgroup, which is commissioned by the Joint Task Force on Practice Parameters (JTFPP), has recommended that “Influenza vaccines should be administered to individuals with egg allergy of any severity, just as they would be to individuals without egg allergy.”
